Star Covet Wins Brisbane Cup

Monday 11 June Star Covet blitzed its rivals by 4.5 lengths to win the Group 1 Brisbane Cup over 3200 meters.

In the second fastest Brisbane Cup ever run Star Covet ran away from the field to win comfortably by more than 4 lengths.

Great credit needs to go to Pam Webber for her time and patience  spent on this old horse, but she was rewarded with her first Group 1 winner, as was Jason Taylor rewarded for his great ride with his first Group 1 winner.

Special praise was given to the staff of Boomerang Berrima Stud for the way this horse was rehabilitated from his shocking tendon injuries almost 3 years ago.

Star Covet has now won more than $830,000 following this win and his previous Group 2 win in the Prime Ministers Cup course record run.

Star Covet will be now set for the Melbourne Cup of 2001.
